Announcing Lichess Titled Arena 5

@IM lovlas I do not want anything and do not offer, just showed my opinion that the game of 1 + 0 is not subjective control, that would mean the best player, this control depends a lot on luck and speed. I'm talking about the fact that the prize for the first place should not be increased, but the money allocated to the arena 5, make the tournament for 3 minutes already, and I'm sure that 3 minutes will be more popular than 1 minute.
@GeniusInHell Hunny.

You say:

"it's not that Magnus donates, but that Liches accepts this money, and does not care about other places."

This highlights the EXACT point I was making. So thank you.

Your definition of what is "fair" or "caring" is so far from any form of relevancy in this situation. It's cute that you think it matters though.

It's not your money, your website, or business quite frankly. You just play chess here for free. You're welcome for the free lesson on how the real world works.
It is very entertaining to see how hard some people are trying to make this non-issue a problem.
It's good that there is freedom of speech here that lets everyone voice their opinion. What is a non issue to you is clearly an issue for others. It generates healthy discussion.
The prizes give more incentive to win. If you can't beat Magnus that's your own fault. Also, it isn't about the money. Why do you think Carlsen donates the money back? If you are playing just for the money and not pure joy of chess than kindly leave the tournament. I enjoy watching the title players face each other. You already can organize tourneys for U players but this is the dividing line just like the Pro Chess leagues on chess.com. Stop complaining and enjoy the chess. Honestly, its pathetic how sensitive people become when money is involved.
@NeverBeenTimid
You have been making fun of people the whole thread, so I don't know where your sudden burst of chivalry came from.

Don't get me wrong, as I said, it is entertaining and please continue to discuss this non-issue. But please refrain from suddenly sounding like you are running for student council with your "generates healthy discussion"-remarks.
@SilkyMcNuggets Yes you are right. that this is not my money, not my playground. but why this forum exists? can not people write their opinions? I expressed my opinion, and you try to convince me of your thoughts and talk about it. I'm not an authority on this site, and my soul is useless, I do not encourage it to follow the Lychess website. Sorry, I do not like being silent. if I had a statute, for example IM, and my strength in the game would be in the arena of 10-20 seats, I would not participate in this tournament, because I think that the game for 1 minute is not objective, the tournament attracts many strong players. but, despite their bidding, they can not train to play for 1 minute, and the Penguin, a common chess nerd. .
If Lіches wants to get strong players, you must change the format 3 + 0 or at least 2 + 0.
@JlGSAW @GeniusInHell
Well, how I see the situation:
1. Lichess has allocated prizes for the first 5 places as large as $500 - $250 - $125 - $75 - $50. This seems to be pretty fair.
2. Magnus Carlsen has donated $2250 specificially to the first prize.
3. An anonymous Patron has donated $350 to increase prizes like:
+$250 - +$0 - +$50 - +$25 - +$25.
4. All the above resulted into a ridiculously skewed prizes distribution:
$3,000 - $250 - $175 - $100 - $75

Now, I don't get what do you want from Lichess which is powered by the people who are free to donate their money.
1. Reasonable changes of the distribution of initial allocation doesn't help much.
2. Increasing initial allocation sums due to some "unfairness" is not what Lichess can afford.
3. Redistibruting the Patron donations in a way that contradicts their wills, including poor people, single children etc., is disrespectful to the Patrons and just makes them and some other Patrons never donate these money again.
4. Denying their donations based on their consequences is inappropriate in this case. Suppose that Magnus would have donated his prize back to the SECOND place. That would have made the ending of the tournament ridiculous where some players could pause and lose on purpose. But in our case every player will still try their best to get as many wins and money as they can, despite how the fund is skewed or unfair.

And your speculations about what will this turn into after many months are nothing more than speculations. As long as MC holds the money and doesn't abuse them to spoil fun for anybody, he can use them as he wants, and Lichess ought not to conform to anyone's sense of fairness. If you think that's unfair, you'd rather donate to the second place yourselves.
I just wish the tournament was at some other time! This tournament starts at 12:30 am in India, where I live. My parents would never allow me to be awake at that hour.
I think that lichess could accept the money from Magnus, and use it to equally distribute it over the top 5 prizes . Unless, Magnus has explicitly said that it can only be donated to the 1st place prize fund.
