  1. pepellou I'll try the najdorf, as I prepped a bit against the Bg5-f4 line
  2. pepellou ahhhh close sicilian instead, I saw he plays the f4 system, didn't prep much but it's a game I hope...
  3. pepellou out of book already lol, but 3..d5 seems normal
  4. pepellou I recall playing this as White in my old days of facing sicilian with f4, Granda had some instructive game there
  5. pepellou 7..Nc6 Be3 I wasn't sure how to continue, Be7 seems more flexible bc Be3 now I have Qc7 or Na6 additional options
  6. pepellou I just realize g2 is undefended so maybe I don't need to defend c5 if Be3 (f4 hangs too in some lines)
  7. pepellou let's both castle I guess... I like my king safety better
  8. pepellou taking the dog out he keeps trying :( hope to be back in <10 min
  9. Barry_Forshaw Go Rex
  10. pepellou back
  11. pepellou Nc6-d4 idea, if c3 then d3 is weak... not much but sth
  12. pepellou I did it again... just sent a whisper to my opponent by mistake :(
  13. pepellou 11.Be3 Nd4 then Qf2 not possible due to Ng4, but if he trades on f6 1st bishop helps on d4 maybe
  14. pepellou ^ and that was the whisper I sent to him :/
  15. pepellou 11..Ng4 was too messy and 11..Nd4 allowed Ne5 and Qc7, c3, Nf5 I didn't like that strong knight on e5
  16. pepellou b6 solid keeps Ne5 under control (can just trade on e5 and e4) and supports future Bc5 maybe
  17. pepellou Ne5 allowing these trades seemed wrong, now I like 14..Qd4, my kind of move :P forcing a pleasant endgame
  18. multiverse128 Cmon Rex!
  19. pepellou (17) many interesting options now: dxc3, d3, Rfd8, Bc5, ...
  20. pepellou I was looking at 17..dxc3 Bxc3 Rc4 (b5-b4 plan) and realized 17..Rc4 may be candidate (b3 dxc3 crazy there)
  21. pepellou deciding between 17..Bc5 and 17..Rfd8, my kind of moves, bringing more pieces... I like them both a lot
  22. pepellou well Bc5 more forcing but Rfd8 probably next after lets say Kh1 for example
  23. pepellou 19.b4 I still have dxc3 working even if it's not a check it makes no difference
  24. pepellou dxc3 Bxc3 b5 is my main follow up, just pleasant nothing concrete that I see yet
  25. pepellou worried it may oversimplify but 19..dxc3 Bxc3 Bd4 very tempting
  26. pepellou then Rc2 and Rdd2 are real threats (if he trades bishops)
  27. pepellou but otherwise Bxc3 ruins his pawns a bit more
  28. pepellou I'm doing it!
  29. pepellou much better pawn structure than him, very pleasant, and still clock to try and convert this... let's go rawr
  30. WickidDoc looks like fantastic winning chances
  31. pepellou I don't see how he defends all the pawns now...
  32. pepellou basically Rd2 against any move that defends e4
  33. WickidDoc 23.Re1 Rxe4 a potential trap
  34. pepellou looking promising but I blew something similar up in round 1, with his back rank issues I'll keep the 4 rooks as long as possible
  35. pepellou he saved the back rank but maybe I get a 2nd pawn? not seeing defense for it...
  36. pepellou 24..h6 may allow Rd8+ Rf8 counterplay (not sure if Kg6 there holds or not as there's Rg3+ ... let's just do the safer g6
  37. pepellou (26) ok about keeping the 4 rooks... allowing Rcc8 probably not a good idea now xD
  38. HampshireHawk gg
  39. WickidDoc gg
  40. KapuBen gg
  41. pepellou thanks guys
  42. pepellou 12.Ne5 looked so suspicious
  43. pepellou my b6 move was precisely to avoid Ne5 so I was surprised to see it anyway
  44. WickidDoc can you explain that to me? lo
  45. WickidDoc i thought black had Nxe5 and Nxe4 anyway
  46. pepellou no I mean the alternative to b6 was Nd4, I had to do something about c5
  47. pepellou and Nd4 allows Ne5
  48. WickidDoc ah okay
  49. pepellou Nd4, Ne5, Qc7, c3, Nf5 I thought
  50. pepellou and I didn't like that knight on e5 after that
  51. pepellou mine can't be chased yet with g4 there but it's not very stable on f5
  52. WickidDoc i guess there was some weird alternative idea with Ng4 and f5
  53. pepellou ah yes, i also mentioned that (I recorded the game to publish VOD on twitch)
  54. pepellou but it was messy
  55. pepellou Ng4, Qg3, f5 and there he had like many possible moves
  56. pepellou Ng5, Nf2, Nc3, etc
  57. pepellou I didn't want to calculate all of that with such a risky concession on my part (f5)
  58. pepellou if it was a more forcing line maybe
  59. WickidDoc yeah looks a little sloppy with the backwards d6 pawn
  60. WickidDoc some really interesting lines in that one though
  61. WickidDoc nice thing about ...b6 is it gives the opponent a chance to go wrong at least
  62. pepellou yeah, also more solid for me, don't have to worry about c5 that much after that
  63. WickidDoc yep, useful move anyway
  64. pepellou I'm seeing now with SF that actually white is ready to play g4 in that line (Nd4, Ne5...) as the knight defends from e5 lol
  65. pepellou good thing I didn't like it already
  66. WickidDoc gg, i'll try to catch the vod later
  67. pepellou thanks
