  1. jg777 last league game was dreadful. Today I hope to play more sensible and practical. We’ll see how well I accomplish that.
  2. jg777 Slav a tempo up works for me
  3. jg777 so the one thing I hate is having a blocked in bishop, but I’ll figure that out in due time.
  4. jg777 Trading down to alleviate some cramped pieces, I’d like e4 to free c1 but doubtful that’s worthwhile long term.
  5. jg777 Re1 looks pretty useless now that e4 won’t be forthcoming and more likely to try f5 later.
  6. jg777 either I can attempt to keep the pawn fixed on d5 or I can attempt to prove the diagonal useless for b7. Since Ne5, I’ll attempt useless
  7. jg777 I got him thinking... maybe I can save a pawn...😉
  8. jg777 interesting choice. Now e4 becomes possible. NxN e4... which does make my previous moves more logical..
  9. jg777 now trades on e4 happen or I go e5, either way b7 not an issue, c1 will be OK.
  10. jg777 I’ll have to find my way to a suitable endgame, find the trades to bring it to there.
  11. jg777 will be annoyed if he castles here, but I think I can manage anyway.
  12. jg777 NxN Be4 Bxb7, retake d4 maybe
  13. jg777 do I want the queen on b7 or no...
  14. jg777 so I’ll have to sac the D pawn as it’s to weak but I’ll try to rope more exchanges for it to reach an endgame with a pawn down.
  15. jg777 Rd8 Be3 e5 ect will be unpleasant and I won’t attempt to hold
  16. jg777 not sure castles changes perspective much. Maybe grab queen off D file.
  17. jg777 I think I can get the bishops, maybe a rook pair traded for the D pawn. Possibly queens, but that would be lucky.
  18. jg777 yeah avoiding queen trades with rook barrel
  19. jg777 come on and trade
  20. FairyTaleTime Don’t like that move
  21. FairyTaleTime B3 looks weird
  22. jg777 I anticipate Qd7
  23. jg777 let’s do this baby! Rook and pawns endgame!
  24. Delpire white has gained 2+ minutes, maybe taking a bit more time would be good?
  25. FairyTaleTime Maybe black should hace tried Qe7, might be better
  26. jg777 if he plays e5 I’m going to be mildly annoyed, but hopefully he goes straight to d4 and we trade off and begin the endgame cleanly.
  27. FairyTaleTime Maybe b4 and then qe7
  28. jg777 I’m not even sure if e5 I play Bg5 or if I just swab queens and begin to work a blockade. Bg5 appeals more to me initially however.
  29. jg777 that’ll hang the queen and we can wrap this up quickly. 😉
  30. FairyTaleTime B5**
  31. jg777 well e5 QxQ RxQ Rd3 exd Bd2 and I can pretend I planned an elaborate fortress like idea.
  32. FairyTaleTime B5, h5 and b4 looks good
  33. jg777 the benefit for me would be the position harmonizes easier but I’d definitely be waiting to draw barring an inexcusable blunder.
  34. jg777 here goes to the endgame
  35. jg777 I suppose he could mix it up with Rd3 e4 then still capture on d4, although the difference may not matter significantly.
  36. jg777 I see he’s worried if R8Xd then he may run into trouble with Re8 after say Rd3 exd Bxd. But e4 stops that idea... I think.
  37. jg777 augh stop postponing trades and go for it man.
  38. jg777 if my queen pawns were on dark squares I’d be tempted to go dxe RxR exf RxR+ KxR, and play the odd pieces down.
  39. jg777 some insane part of me still wants to play it, though I know I’d likely lose in the resulting position.
  40. jg777 after KxR, black could try b5 axb axb fxg Kxg and I might be able to get b4 and Bc5 to work for me. But I know he could swing his king
  41. jg777 sac the rook for pawn and bishop, then I’d be stuck running my king over there while his king runs east laughing.
  42. jg777 so I got to cut my pawn loose I guess d5 b5 axb axb then I make some move, trades on d5 ect...
  43. jg777 now does it make sense to play b4 Bc5? Maybe, better than a rook sitting around defending b3.
  44. jg777 seems my goal now comes to trading queen pawns then working on a fortress for the kingside
  45. jg777 will need to keep a rook on the board, same colo bishops will be annoying but this should be objectively drawable to me.
  46. FairyTaleTime Wtf
  47. jg777 what is h6 for? Ghosts walking around I’m not seeing?
  48. jg777 I’ve no idea what he was seeing there. Oh well, may the endgame be fun and fruitful.
  49. jg777 and odd play about. Trying to figure how to trade a and e for my a b and d pawns then possibly shake on it.
  50. jg777 oh well I’m not even sure the move order makes much difference, it’s a for b and gang on D.
  51. FairyTaleTime Rdd3
  52. jg777 whence comes first; the trade or the king advance?
  53. White offers draw
