  1. rojazu (10) the absence of h4 means my knight can sit well on g6. if i can get in Be7 i can prevent h4 too. hector always played h4
  2. rojazu (11) just to note there h4 could be met by Nf4 which looks very strong
  3. rojazu (11) now Be7, prevent h4 and i can castle. this is a much safer version than the lines i prepped today
  4. rojazu (13) in the lines i prepped i often had two pawns but white had such dynamic compensation that i hated my position.
  5. rojazu (13) this feels like white doesnt have sufficient comp here for the pawn. i'll probably mess it up
  6. rojazu (13) need to stop chatting and start thinking now... my clock is running down
  7. rojazu (14) he does have those bishops that look quite menacing
  8. fake_switch (14.g3) goooooo rojazu!!
  9. VlShm Gave up b7?
  10. chaosbandar ... for c3
  11. FM NoMate4u Not that simple probably... Nxa5 Qxa5 Rxb7 and after Bxc6 one has to calculate whether Rxe7 is possible
  12. VlShm But the B on d7 hangs?
  13. FM NoMate4u *the bishop doesn't take on c6, but still the point seems to be valid imo
  14. chaosbandar not right away, but it is an isolated pawn, and a target..
  15. chaosbandar Rook exchange on c7 first?
  16. FM NoMate4u have the feeling that Bc6 is just too risky... Think black might settle for Rc7 first
  17. jsettle1 Let's go Meeklydim!
  18. FM NoMate4u Okay, now I would expect a long tank by White, whether Rxe7 works... i am afraid that it does not entirely work, as after Bxh7 Kf8
  19. FM NoMate4u i dont see a way forward
  20. FM NoMate4u On the other hand i don't see that the alternatives are promising for White, as they are strategically completetely busted
  21. chaosbandar Rxe7 Nxe7 Bxh7 Kxh7 Ng5+ Kg6 ... ?
  22. chaosbandar no, you die .. Qd3+
  23. FM NoMate4u Or Qg4
  24. chaosbandar K cant go back to g8, Qh4 threatening mate via either h7/h8 or f7 ..
  25. FM NoMate4u No but apparently you might go back to g8 and after Qh5 Ng6 Qh7+ Kf8 white has to be creative
  26. VlShm Ba4 now?
  27. FM NoMate4u I'm curious what the player thought about the position after Rxe7....
  28. chaosbandar Ra3 Rxc3 Rxc3 Qxc3 Bb7 ... ?
  29. FM NoMate4u Now i would guess that White just goes back to b7
  30. chaosbandar Kf8 now ?
  31. FM NoMate4u Just Rc7 is fine, no?
  32. FM NoMate4u Kf8 Bg5 seems a little unstable to me
  33. chaosbandar Qxc3 ?
  34. chaosbandar just ignore .. given Ng6 means everything's 'fine' for black ?
  35. chaosbandar I was wondering why Rfc8 was better than Rac8 on move 13 ..
  36. chaosbandar thought a5 a4 was on the cards, but no ..
  37. rojazu (18) just working through greek gift type defences if he does Rxe7
  38. rojazu (18) that and im wondering how my queen will get harassed after taking on c4
  39. FM NoMate4u uff
  40. chaosbandar ooh ..
  41. chaosbandar it is coming ..
  42. chaosbandar Bxg6 first maybe ?
  43. FM NoMate4u I wondered after his message that he might do that
  44. FM NoMate4u Yeah Yeah, black just blunderd a piece i think
  45. chaosbandar yeah, he said c4 but meant c3 ..
  46. rojazu (18) ok... i think i missed the simple Bxg6... long think wrong think
  47. FM NoMate4u Seems to be a typical case of "as soon as one made the move, on directly sees why it's bad"
  48. FM NoMate4u Don't attempt to count how many times that happened to me in OTB chess
  49. chaosbandar hxg6 Rxe7 Rc7 .. ?
  50. chaosbandar maybe somehow try and hold .. ?
  51. FM NoMate4u First white wins a tempo by playing Bd2
  52. FM NoMate4u And even if you have one pawn don't see how Black has even a chance of holding if White doesn't blunder anything back
  53. chaosbandar sigh .. yes .. i'm going to lose to you in line 10 moves .. : )
  54. FM NoMate4u But wait a second
  55. chaosbandar some way to trap the rook ?
  56. FM NoMate4u Qb4
  57. chaosbandar Rxe6 and die a glorious death .. : ) ..
  58. chaosbandar or Ba3 saves the rook maybe ..
  59. chaosbandar gives back the piece
  60. FM NoMate4u Well, the simple solution (Bg5) unluckily seemes to be quite okay
  61. VlShm Ba3 giving up B instead of R?
  62. chaosbandar true .. Bg5 .. so obvious once you say it .. :)
  63. FM NoMate4u And if not i would still probably prefer Rxf7 to the other lines
  64. rojazu (20) im dead lost when he plays Bg5... I will keep going whilst i still have the heavies on the board though. got to fight on...
  65. chaosbandar Rxf7 allows Kf7 developing the king, no ?
  66. chaosbandar Bg5 Rc2 ..
  67. FM NoMate4u I think developing is the wrong word when the queens are still one the board... Would say that "dragging it out to be attacked" is the right
  68. FM NoMate4u phase
  69. chaosbandar ha .. I need to take some notes here .. :)
  70. FM NoMate4u Also think that Rc2 still is a little bit of annoying counterplay
  71. Dhmayer I think it’s non trivial after Rc2 and Rac8
  72. FM NoMate4u I think the first question is where to put the queen (don't believe that Nd2 is a move)
  73. Dhmayer There is no easy way for white to create mating threats, while Nf3 and Re1 and pawn f2 become targets (plus the queen of course)
  74. Dhmayer 22 Qa6 and put Q or R on b7?
  75. FM NoMate4u Qa6 Qc5 seems dangerous to me
  76. Dhmayer Problem is Qg4 also unpleasant
  77. Dhmayer Yes Qc5 Rb1 Bb5 is interesting
  78. FM NoMate4u Thought that Qe3 could have been a try. 'Threatening' Qf4 and if Rc3, then Qd2
  79. Dhmayer Race to mate on 7th
  80. chaosbandar Rf1 Bb5 ..
  81. FM NoMate4u Honestly now i am inclined to believe that the most practical way for White is to play Be3 and accept the slightly superior position
  82. chaosbandar Be3 loses rook for light bishop
  83. chaosbandar not bad ..
  84. chaosbandar for white ..
  85. chaosbandar sorry, i'm 5 mins behind you NoMate4u ! :)
  86. FM NoMate4u No problem ;-) Don't judge people on how much time they have spent for reasonable things apart from chess in their life
  87. FM NoMate4u Ah that seems to be a quite elegant way
  88. fake_switch (24.Qd6) what's the morphy quote?
  89. fake_switch (24.Qd6) the ability to play chess well is a sign of a wasted life?
  90. FM NoMate4u But okay, after Qc4 Re1 the drama may still continue
  91. chaosbandar Qc3 .. maybe ?
  92. FM NoMate4u Also that might be a very strong move indeed
  93. FM NoMate4u No Bxf1 cannot be it
  94. chaosbandar yeah, that's not me btw .. my 11 year old son sitting beside me suggesting the strong moves .. ;)
  95. FM NoMate4u Unless black had calculated something like Qc3 Rxf7 and complete mayhem is about to break out ;-)
  96. rojazu (26) 2 pieces for the rook... is it enough?
  97. FM NoMate4u I would think that the endgame is favorable for white, but especially now after collecting the a2 pawn, there are some definite drawing
  98. FM NoMate4u chances for black
  99. chaosbandar after Rxf7 Kxf7 Qe7+ Kg8 Qxe6+ Kh7 Qxd5 defending the knight is probably bad for white .. ?
  100. rojazu (26) bit cheeky but worth a try. i am picking up this a-pawn though. 2 pawns feels about right assuming my king isnt in danger
  101. FM NoMate4u Actually didnt want to play Qxe6 but Bf6
  102. chaosbandar ah lovely .. pawn on f6 anchor for a mate .. ?
  103. chaosbandar so anyway ..
  104. rojazu (27) Ng5 is a threat probably wins back a pawn for him
  105. FM NoMate4u Exactly, and vacating g5 for the knight if all else fails
  106. chaosbandar just a6 now and Rf8 to defend against Ng5
  107. FM NoMate4u After Rxa2 Ng5 Rf8... Bc5 might be a very very appealing move
  108. FM NoMate4u Agreed, i dont think that Rxa2 should have been rushed like that
  109. FM NoMate4u Well if a5 on next move, the game might become quite spicy (my feeling telling that white should be doing very well though)
  110. chaosbandar black f and e pawns fall quickly
  111. chaosbandar rojazu using the only advantage he has on the board
  112. chaosbandar Ra7 exchange it ..
  113. FM NoMate4u No don't exchange rooks here
  114. BamaBeeblebrox Ra7 Rb8#
  115. BamaBeeblebrox You were probably talking about an earlier position.
  116. FM NoMate4u Have the feeling that collecting everything kind of like a vacuum cleaner and then sacrificing the bishop is won for white...
  117. chaosbandar Nxe6 a2 Rxg7 Kh8 Bg5 Rb1 Bf6 a1-Q
  118. FM NoMate4u so the question is: How can black prevent that
  119. chaosbandar Ra6
  120. FM NoMate4u In your variation, i would play Re1+ to gain a tempo instead ;-)
  121. chaosbandar Re8 now ?
  122. chaosbandar sorry, white to play ! :)
  123. rojazu (32) feels like im going to get stuck in a net here
  124. rojazu (32) actually nothing immediete after Nxe6, Rxg7 because his pieces are stepping on eachother and he has to worry about me queening
  125. FM NoMate4u I think Rc1 with the threat of Rc4 at some point was the way to go...
  126. FM NoMate4u White might just get too many pawns... but maybe i am miscalculating something
  127. FM NoMate4u Haven't the tables turned again?
  128. FM NoMate4u Ra4 now and then what?
  129. FM NoMate4u ah okay Ng5... But maybe then Rb1 Rxg7 Kh8 and then Ra4
  130. FM NoMate4u What an intriguing line... Ng5 Kf8 Bc5 Ke8 e6 Re1+ Kxe1 a1Q+ Ke2... Who's better and why?
  131. FM NoMate4u And why have i probably blundered 5times along the way of that variation?
  132. curvedsoup black
  133. curvedsoup i think that after Ng5 then Rb1 and black is safe
  134. FM NoMate4u Rd7 then?
  135. curvedsoup Oh that will not work then
  136. FM NoMate4u Ah... okay
  137. FM NoMate4u That cannot be it
  138. curvedsoup mistake to take the pawn
  139. FM NoMate4u Unless i am missing something super important
  140. curvedsoup Kh1 then nothing after
  141. curvedsoup Rc1
  142. curvedsoup then Bb2 Rc2+ with a fork
  143. VlShm how about d4 now?
  144. Dhmayer I like 36 ... d4 for black
  145. curvedsoup d4 is goof
  146. curvedsoup d
  147. Dhmayer I don’t see what white can do here
  148. VlShm I hope rojazu sees d4 after first repetition
  149. FM NoMate4u No way Black repeats moves her
  150. Dhmayer Rg7 left the knight overloaded
  151. FM NoMate4u I mean the line might be at some point okay with an additional tempo for White... Just don't play h4
  152. VlShm oh no
  153. FM NoMate4u No
  154. FM NoMate4u No way
  155. curvedsoup no
  156. FM NoMate4u What is happening?
  157. curvedsoup Possibly to regain some time?
  158. Dhmayer The relief after blundering a piece
  159. Dhmayer Can’t go back to a4 now
  160. Dhmayer Maybe he missed ...d4 and will play a1 instead. I think black is still slightly better
  161. curvedsoup Rc1 also wins the game for black
  162. curvedsoup as well as d4
  163. FM NoMate4u After a1Q?
  164. FM NoMate4u Never ever is White even holding a draw there
  165. rojazu (38) im content with a draw after what happened earlier.
  166. curvedsoup Rb1???
  167. VlShm black refused the draw? really?
  168. VlShm Rb1 now?
  169. FM NoMate4u What is going on?
  170. curvedsoup black is winning!!!
  171. Dhmayer Why did white dodge the repetition???
  172. curvedsoup white thinks he is winning!!
  173. FM NoMate4u That is the question of the day
  174. curvedsoup Ra4 now
  175. FM NoMate4u But seriously, how can white think they are winning?
  176. Dhmayer Now Ra4 Bc3 black also has Rb6
  177. FM NoMate4u Second round to go
  178. VlShm It is still crucial for black to find d4
  179. FM NoMate4u There are quite a lot of winning moves here. d4 being only one
  180. curvedsoup Rc1 is good (41)
  181. FM NoMate4u Rc1, Rc4
  182. rojazu (41) I dont think the exchange vs 2 pawns is enough
  183. VlShm ahh
  184. BamaBeeblebrox That was an interesting game
  185. fake_switch woow, what a chaotic game! ggs
  186. Meeklydim thanks guys
  187. rojazu thanks for the game!
  188. VlShm gg
  189. Meeklydim you too
  190. rojazu i cant believe i just dropped a piece. was thinking much deeper and missed the obvious
  191. Meeklydim yeah
  192. rojazu after that i was just playing for tricks. surprised im actually better in this ending...
  193. Meeklydim I didnt expect that either
  194. Meeklydim I'm very surprised by that too
  195. Meeklydim I totally evaluated the position wrong
  196. Meeklydim I'll have to run now but i'll try to analyse later
  197. rojazu aha Rc1 + Rc2+
  198. Meeklydim thanks everybody and se you aroundd
  199. rojazu bit annoying half the chat is truncated. anyone know how to retreive. the opening was of interest to me
  200. rojazu ok found most of it via my own page. great commentary guys.
