  1. Black offers draw
  2. White declines draw
  3. yigg Haha, that was embarrassing
  4. PrestaJay Hah damn
  5. yigg Can't believe I missed ng5
  6. PrestaJay I definitely blundered in the opening, I'm not used to the French
  7. PrestaJay Yeah I was lucky to be able to win the exchange back
  8. yigg well did you consider nfd2 instead of sacking the exchange?
  9. PrestaJay I considered it, but it felt really awkward, all my pieces would be cramped.
  10. PrestaJay I expected you to then play Rc8 and attack my c pawn while everything else was stuck
  11. PrestaJay Though I'm not certain, it felt like it woul dbe very awkward
  12. yigg I agree, but after Rc8, Qc2 right?
  13. PrestaJay Ah I missed that
  14. PrestaJay That could work
  15. yigg It looks cramped, but it might be better
  16. PrestaJay Yeah you could be right!
  17. PrestaJay I was hoping I could get some kind of attack after saccing the exchange
  18. PrestaJay Not sure that was a sound plan though
  19. yigg Interesting
  20. PrestaJay To be clear though, I completely missed Ba4
  21. yigg well in any case, great endgame play
  22. PrestaJay My plan going in wasn't to sac the exchange, haha
  23. PrestaJay Thanks!
  24. yigg Yeah that pops up in a few different lines, it's definitely tough to find
  25. PrestaJay I'll have to remember it for next time I run into the French!
  26. yigg Did you consider playing cxd5 instead of c5?
  27. PrestaJay That was my original plan for sure
  28. PrestaJay But after you moved your king I noticed that c5 would completely stop your king from progressing between that pawn and the bishop
  29. PrestaJay I've won a few games from fairly closed endgames from outmanouvering my opponent
  30. yigg I guess you do have a kingside majority, it might make sense to shut down all the counterplay on the queenside for me
  31. PrestaJay So I felt like if I got into a spot where your king was shut down I could find a win in it
  32. PrestaJay Yeah I just felt more comfortable with that strategy
  33. PrestaJay cxd5 and opening up the center when I've got a bishop pair might be more technically correct though
  34. yigg If you find the g4 plan it's fine either way right?
  35. PrestaJay Yeah I think so
  36. PrestaJay Either way just try to blast those kingside pawns through
  37. PrestaJay With the c pawn as a threat you need to babysit
  38. yigg yeah
  39. yigg These French lines are kinda weird tho, it always feels like white doesn't know what side of the board to play on
  40. PrestaJay Haha yeah I am not used to it at all
  41. PrestaJay My basic rule at the moment is if you play c4, I try to fight back on the queenside, otherwise I attack on the kingside
  42. PrestaJay I have no idea if that is right or not though
  43. yigg Well normally when black goes kingside white has this big attack, black is usually just saying "I'll defend a bunch"
  44. yigg Sometimes black can play for a5 b5 b4 but it always seems so slow
  45. PrestaJay Yeah fair point. I've got to head off though, but thanks for the game!
  46. yigg Yeah, thanks!
  47. PrestaJay Also let me know if you'd like to play again sometime, I could use more practice against the French to be honest
  48. yigg for sure :)
