  1. Bitter_Cherry lets go frank!
  2. alen111 hmm, looks like one of those positions that can escalate in a hurry
  3. alen111 ^(11)
  4. Midnightokar White has not one but two bad bishops. Let hope Frank can fix that.
  5. covton now I'm worried I've miscalculated
  6. covton what is nice here is that even if I take the dsb at the end and his rook gets to d1, my N and dsb are protecting all of the invasion sqs
  7. covton and against almost anything else I'm trading everything on d1 with check
  8. covton I know the computer will disagree, but that's one of the best games I've personally ever played
  9. ECelal gg
  10. covton ok having a look first without the computer
  11. covton was out of book from about move 3, was just trying to establish something in the centre
  12. covton on move 6, I was also considering pushing d4
  13. covton not really good enough to say which is better :D.
  14. covton opening explorer says it's the most popular move, so must be decent
  15. covton I was worried about the c4 square and thought that the advantage of shutting in the white lsb would ultimately be undermined by f4
  16. covton I thought fiancettoing the dsb was a little slow, it essentially gives me a free move as black, since I can easily defend e5 with the queen
  17. covton so I get b5 in which shuts down the N completly
  18. covton on move 11, I was considering Bb7 to help defend the N, but didn't like that f4 was so quick
  19. covton if I take f4, the rook comes in and moves like Bxf6 are a problem
  20. covton if I don't take, I thought the N was a bit weak on e5 after exchanging pawns
  21. covton or white gets f5 and g4 g5 is a problem
  22. covton well to me anyway
  23. covton I wasn't expecting f3 vs Bg4, thought maybe just Nhf3
  24. covton or even Bf3 and exchange lsb
  25. covton then without looking at the computer I think c3 is too weakening, it gives me the d3 square but also blocks the bishop,
  26. covton but even so,15. Nxe7 Qxe7 16. Qe2 Rfd8 17. Rad1 Qd7 18. Bc1 and it's still even material
  27. covton so I wonder if after Nxe7 it's best to take with the N
  28. covton hmmm not sure really
  29. covton looks even to me
  30. covton suppose I can get the N to g6 maybe and then play the h-pawn??
  31. covton and f4 is less of an issue since my N is off the diagonal
  32. covton as played, I thought 18. Bc1 Qxf5 19. g4 would have been tricky
  33. covton yes I'm up a pawn, but again f4 is coming with the attack on the N
  34. covton then after N somewhere, Bf1 puts pressure on the rook
  35. covton after Rxd2 I wondered about Bf1 then?!
  36. covton but now see it doesn't work
  37. covton wonder if b4 at some point could have been good, so I get the d4 square
  38. covton ok going to switch on the comptuer now
  39. covton ah so Rd1 was a mistake, it's the same idea as I had, but by playing it first and not taking the N, white can take the dsb
  40. covton I'll be honest, no way I would have figured that out in the game
  41. covton I was thinking that I was pushing so wanted to keep pieces on the board
  42. covton and Rd3 is also a mistake
  43. covton ah because again after trading on e7 my attack runs out
  44. covton again right idea, I needed to trade on f5 and then play Rd3
  45. covton ok
  46. covton amazing tactic after 18. Bc1 Qxf5 19. f4 you can actually let the N be taken and then play e4 to block the retreat
  47. covton wow
  48. covton very unlikely I would have seen that
  49. covton anyway gg and good luck in the rest of the season :)
