Meditation on chess improvement

Road to 2000

Intro:
I have being starting playing chess ( seriously as a hobby) in end of 2015 as the age of 16 years old ( November 14 to be precise) by joining Lichess which is the best in my opinion to progress in chess for free, I had never joined a chess club until recently and barely joined chess OTB tournaments. Having 2000 lichess rating in every tc ( bullet blitz rapid classical) I thought about sharing my Best recommendations in one post instead of answering questions one by one.

The key to progression in any level is tactic! Why it is when you keep hanging pieces and pawns at a beginner lvl? The answer is than tactic by improving your tactical and chess understanding improve also your board visualization! Seeing checks and nasty tricks by improving your attacking style you also improve your defensive skills.

Obviously there is others arena to progress on such as opening middle game endgame, but tactic should be the centre of your attention organization your study of theses arena as the same time as working on your tactics

Daily training routine:
I recommend for you to get a daily tactic training, this arena is like a daily workout if you don't train in consistently everyday your brain forgot it and become lazy.

The first hack to reach 1500 is opening understanding, a bit of endgame understanding and understanding how to defend! So many time i saw 1600-1700 defeating lower 1500 not because they have a better position, but because they didnt know how to defend a king side attack or a poor sacrifice.

Analysing your own games is a key to the progressing, don't play a game and move on !!!

Beginner playing below 1600 should definitely play some e4/e5 opening to learn the basics

And as soon as your got a decent level ( above 1600) you must choice an opening repertoire and stick to it, no matter what you shouldn't play 4-5-6 openings, but rather play one and know it by heart!

Avoid fast time control, arrive to one point fast time control to they limit and even decrease your chess! ( getting simple plan trying cheap tricks win on time in worst position etc) favourite longer time control! Such as Rapid and Classical

I would recommend to avoid reading chess opening books that's my own opinion many chess players would disagree with this statement, I prefer to look as chess opening explorer look for information struggle to understand them come up with my own moves, if you have the choice between buying a chess opening book and a tactic/endgame book choice the second ones.

To conclude the road to 2000 is long and dark full of struggle and plain of study, but also desperation! How many time did i spend studying chess and see my rating drop of 100 200 points! But what ever you need to keep it up and the rating will rise by itself. Thad why it is important to what ever you do to progress, keep enjoy chess !

My advices engage just myself that what helped me to reach 2000 I may forgot many stuff to say but that already a long post, i hope it will help you into your improvements.

About opening:

You will hear a lot of time play this opening or play this neither this one since its popular to top GM, the truth is you need to play an opening than suit you. What do i mean by suit you? Than you feel comfortable into playing the middle game with it, with “the pawns breaks” your possibilities and your opponent possibilities, plans etc... and to know is to... try it! We are better serve by ourselves so try it give it a try and see not necessarily how it go but how do you feel about it. A common mistakes is to choice an opening by his name which is obviously an enormous mistake. As said early when you got your repertoire as white and black again e4, d4, c4, nf3... you just need to train and practice your openings,
There is no inferior or superior opening you can play any reasonable opening such as Scandinavian Alekhine etc...as long as they are reasonable. If you just started to join chess i advice you to learn the 10 goldens moves and try to replicate something similar over the board: e4 d4 Nf3 Bc4 0-0 Nc3 Bf4 Qd2 Rd1 Re1 for example, it is extremely useful to learn the basics/opening rules at the beginning to follow them in a first time then to questions them when you get a certain level.

About Middle game:

Okay so be ready because middle game is and I'm sorry one of the hardest arena to progress in chess, the reason? We know what to do in the Opening develops pieces control the centre follow book lines respect simple rules don't bring your queen out early etc... We know what to do during endgame make yourself a pass pawn support it actived you king, your rook etc... BUT we don't know what to do during middlegame, every position is mostly unique and even if we got advices and kind of "rules" they got they exceptions and they exceptions are the position itself. Well I'm not totally correct when I said we don't know what to do in the middle game you can actually see tactical mistakes and if you followed my previous advices and trained you should be able to see most of them and don't fall for your opponents cheap trick.

For knowing what to do during your game you need a plan! You are looking into checkmate your opponent well that's a plan basics but still a plan, how are you gonna do it? with a sacrifice ? with a pawns storm on his kingside? how he gonna respond? how will you respond back? anticipate think more ahead than your opponent calculate wisely!

Do not ignore you opponent plan! he want this square? don't let him ! He try to weakness your pawn structure don't let him! make his hard for your opponent to get you, this is chess we are not here to make his life easy!!! He is up a pawn and wish to exchange? NO WAY! you get the point. Anyway, this say it is better to have a bad plan than no plan at all, don't play random moves and see what you opponent respond and idk we will see maybe i will get an idea on the road, NO NO AND NO! every single moves need to have a real MEANING and PRUPOSE the purpose of no matter what TO IMPROVE YOU POSITION!
Ok now lets say than you don't have any idea what to do despite listened my advices , damned you Pendru i still don't know what to do ( yeah I can hear you from here :P ). Look at your pieces are they all actives ? at the 100% potential, wouldn't they be better on another squares? Can't you make an outpost with your pawns? are some of his pawns weak? cant you attack it? oh you already do and its not enough? cant you create another weakness? Are all you pawns well placed? btw don't DARE ruin you pawn structure because you don't know what to do !!! Still don't know what to do? So now lets talk about the last piece chess players ignore if you still review everything and couldn't improve your positron: THE KING . Such an important pieces chess players kinda forgot during the middle game, let me explain: you reach the end of the middle game a prepare to enter the endgame ? well you king need to be active, can you activated it? You king is expose? well secure it !!!
Lets say your king is on g8 your kingside pawns are h7 g7 and that's it well maybe you will be expose by the diagonal f7 better to move it to h8? (that's just an example)

Finally I hope my advices will you make think carefully and you will think twice before making random moves and wait your opponent to react, Oh and please PLEASE don't ruin your positions because you don't know what to do !
