Taking a Break from (Chess) Tournaments for a few weeks.
Also: Marshall Wednesday U1600 RecapFor several months now, I've been participating in weekly tournaments at Marshall Chess Club. However, for the first time in a while, I'm at home relaxing instead of hunched over a board for 2 - 3 hour 90+30 game.
The reason: I have some fencing tournaments coming up - first the Premier Challenge Regional Open Circuit this weekend, and the next the April North American Cup in Salt Lake City in a few weeks - so I decided that I need to focus on that and not have my attention divided between fencing and scheduled chess games. Fencing is actually a very mental game ("physical chess"), and so I need to be thinking mostly about that.
Also, I'll be training a little harder in the next few weeks, making it difficult to be fresh for scheduled chess games. Soon there will be chess again at Bryant Park - I can get my OTB fix there for the time being.
Anyway, I just finished a 6-round weekly tournament with 1 draw and 3 losses. Here is the study with my analysis:
