How to Get better at Standard Chess for (600-1800)

Chess
Hey, This will be my guide to getting better at standard chess

Hi, My name is Meet Raval, and Welcome to another blog. This blog will be about how to get better at standard chess since my last blog was about Rk(Racing Kings).
So It all started for me when Covid Came to the USA. Lockdown happened and it was looking pretty glum. My school started and I joined a new club: Chess Club. They introduced me to Lichess.org. I started playing lots of rapid chess because I wasn ́t really good at blitz at that time. I was 1400 but I frequently went to 1300 because I had no knowledge of openings and usually just tried to play the king's Indian. My first game was:

It was mostly consisted of fianchettoing both of my bishops in an attempt of playing the King ́s Indian Defense. Then soon, I started watching lots of chess on youtube. Mostly GothamChess. He had a lot of educational content that I loved. His opening videos are really cool for beginners. They explain basic things and learned about the London system that way. It got me to about 1470 real quick. I played that for a while. Around that time I got a USCF account for future OTB tournaments. After learning more middle game and endgame tactics I started going into more deep openings. I learned the Catalan opening which is what I am using right now and it is a really solid opening. It sometimes looks like this:

Really Nice opening. I recommend to whoever is reading this right now to try this opening out.
Some tips that I have for people are to just get experience from playing OTB chess and getting opening theory, middlegame, and endgame strength. I played in a recent tournament OTB and it went pretty well. It was my first one. I beat a lot of people. I was proud of my performance and I will be playing more soon enough. Most importantly, Have lots of FUN! That was the key to success for me. Good Luck on your adventure.
