Gambits, Risky but Powerful

ChessStrategyOpening
I am going to be talking about gambits, how they are risky but powerful too.

Gambits. Most of us have played them, some of us have not (it's fine if you didn't). One thing about gambits is that you risk getting an infiltrated or undermined position, due to the fact that you normally sacrifice one or more pawns straight in the beginning (for example the Danish Gambit or the Smith-Morra Gambit.) but the advantage is that most of the time, you can develop your pieces before your opponent (like the Danish when you sacrifice 3 pawns (and get one black pawn in exchange) and also get a deadly bishop pair) or set up a powerful trap. Some gambits are not very risky, thus lower rated players can use them, and some are very risky and sometimes don't even have any advantages, thus only higher rated players can use them. One nice gambit that I used in games is the Smith-Morra Gambit, and a good example is this:

. The conclusion is that gambits are good but risky, but it is okay to play them as long as you get something out of it
