  1. lovlas maybe if the black pawn was on b4 instead of b6 we could start thinking about fortresses. But this isnt even close
  2. Toadofsky Yeah, that b4 idea should work
  3. lovlas I doubt even that would be enough
  4. lovlas Kg3 followed by Nxh6 looks like the simplest way
  5. Toadofsky Argh, Rd8-Rf8 looks so much less risky
  6. MoistvonLipwig i also was just gonna suggest that
  7. phantom567459 Still could probably play Nxh6 now
  8. MoistvonLipwig true
  9. lovlas just gotto be careful to not reapeat the position three times
  10. MoistvonLipwig he wants to ply Ng6 it seems but I'm not sure what the follow up would be
  11. hicetnunc maybe just trying to build some clock time ?
  12. Toadofsky If this were shogi, you'd promote the knight
  13. MoistvonLipwig like, the N looks nice and all but it doesnt do very much
  14. lovlas I dont think this is ideal
  15. lovlas looks a bit harder now
  16. MoistvonLipwig a golden general would be good on g6
  17. Toadofsky I wonder, can Black hold this?
  18. MoistvonLipwig i wouldnt rule a draw out as result
  19. Toadofsky Rather, can White win by force?
  20. lovlas it must still be winning
  21. MoistvonLipwig not as game theoretical result, but as actual game result here
  22. lovlas you can probably go NH4 whenever
  23. lovlas so this shouldnt be a big problem
  24. SycoraxCirce I'm pretty sure Black will hold now, of course a bit influence by the match situation (already a win for somethingpretentious' team()
  25. Toadofsky Oh, Qg6 and taking on h6 is still a threat
  26. lovlas also b4 is a move if you prepare it a bit
  27. MoistvonLipwig @Lovlas the position might be winning but that doesnt mean he does win
  28. lovlas sure
  29. lovlas probably some sack in e5 is coming
  30. Toadofsky That's interesting that Nh4 is still playable
  31. lovlas Bc3 Bxe5 looks good enough
  32. lovlas no wait it doesnt
  33. MoistvonLipwig is it?
  34. lovlas probably Nh4 or b4 is the ways to go then
  35. Toadofsky not enough attackers there
  36. Toadofsky Yeah, Nh4 or b4
  37. lovlas or maybe he can zugzwang his way to Bxe5
  38. lovlas black seemes to have Kg8<-<h7
  39. lovlas ah yeah Bxa5 is another idea
  40. lovlas Bc3 now
  41. Toadofsky Right, the rook cannot stay on the a-file
  42. MoistvonLipwig maybe should have played Qc7 instead?
  43. Toadofsky Hm, well maybe Kg8 and Ra7-Ra8 holds, idk
  44. MoistvonLipwig i still want that N back in the game
  45. MoistvonLipwig it does nothing except look nice
  46. lovlas Bc3 Bxe5 must win now
  47. MoistvonLipwig yeah quite possible
  48. MoistvonLipwig maybe with Kg8 you can defend f7 often enough?
  49. MoistvonLipwig but right now he doesnt have the time for that
  50. lovlas he could perhaps try Bc3 Rad7
  51. MoistvonLipwig though, maybe he can move away the Rf7? Rxf6 becomes a topic then but what else
  52. lovlas and pretend he doesnt need material
  53. MoistvonLipwig and then Bxe5?
  54. lovlas yeaa
  55. MoistvonLipwig well, now Bxe5 once again
  56. MoistvonLipwig or Nxe5 instead
  57. lovlas Nx is probably simpler
  58. lovlas nah Bxe is simple enough
  59. MoistvonLipwig hes probably deciding between those two too right now
  60. SycoraxCirce very careless play by Black I have to say
  61. MoistvonLipwig yeah, i feel like black could have defended a lot more precisely
  62. lovlas yeah he could have defended better. but it shouldnt have mattered in the end anyways
  63. MoistvonLipwig and he has 40 minutes, its not like he couldnt afford using the time
  64. SycoraxCirce that too
  65. MoistvonLipwig i've won so many half or full points of dead lost positions simply by keeping focus and try hard
  66. MoistvonLipwig 57...Qc7 ?
  67. MoistvonLipwig not that it does anything but i'd try it
  68. MoistvonLipwig and then somehow take on f6 twice and Qe5
  69. lovlas yeah you might get lucky and get a few checks if white is careless
  70. MoistvonLipwig though, he can just trade queens
  71. MoistvonLipwig White can that is
  72. lovlas 10min should be plenty of time here though
  73. somethingpretentious crazy how fast he took my material
  74. MoistvonLipwig now is a bit late to think for black here...
  75. somethingpretentious I thought it was complicated :(
  76. lovlas turn that frown upside down
  77. somethingpretentious :(* think I sent a happy smiley
  78. MoistvonLipwig :)
  79. MoistvonLipwig lol
  80. SycoraxCirce Qc7+ e5 is good?
  81. MoistvonLipwig then Bxf6?
  82. lovlas it also loses
  83. SycoraxCirce good for White I mea
  84. lovlas yea
  85. MoistvonLipwig is Qc7 e5 Bxf6 so clear? i would keep trying there with black
  86. Toadofsky I wonder if Leela could convert most of these positions
  87. lovlas e5 is probably not neccessary
  88. lovlas just Kg2 or whatever
  89. MoistvonLipwig well, e5 just loses a pawn, no?
  90. lovlas not sure
  91. lovlas you mighjt have d6
  92. MoistvonLipwig and Bxe5?
  93. lovlas Rxe5
  94. MoistvonLipwig right
  95. MoistvonLipwig not sure whats happening
  96. lovlas I donno whats happening there
  97. lovlas but its pointless to calculate when every other move just wins easily
  98. MoistvonLipwig exactly
  99. MoistvonLipwig well...
  100. MoistvonLipwig now we have to :D
  101. lovlas bah
  102. lovlas I dont think it works
  103. MoistvonLipwig Bxf6 d6 Bxe5 Rxe5 Rxf3?
  104. lovlas yeah
  105. lovlas Qc 2 maybe
  106. lovlas that might still win
  107. MoistvonLipwig ah, and then the c7 goes through
  108. lovlas Rxf6 probably still wins
  109. MoistvonLipwig that seems less clear
  110. lovlas the pawn on d6 should decide
  111. lovlas but yeah
  112. MoistvonLipwig i mean, yeah it wins but you dont have material more anymore
  113. lovlas d6 Bxe5 Rxe5 Rxf3 Qc2 Kh8 dxc7 Rxc7 doesnt seem clear at all
  114. lovlas ah
  115. MoistvonLipwig White simply has Q for R no?
  116. lovlas two rooks
  117. lovlas but maybe d6 Bxe5 Kh1 is clever
  118. MoistvonLipwig white has Re5 still
  119. somethingpretentious considering d6 but can't see it through
  120. MoistvonLipwig its one rook only
  121. lovlas true
  122. lovlas so that also wins
  123. MoistvonLipwig i mean, the rook is still on e5 so its QR vs RR
  124. lovlas everything still wins then
  125. Toadofsky d6 Bxe5 Rxe5 Rxf3 Rxe7+ I think
  126. MoistvonLipwig Qxe7 there?
  127. lovlas I thin d6 Bxe5 Kh1 is the simplest
  128. Toadofsky Oh wait, that doesn't work
  129. MoistvonLipwig there black actually wins :D
  130. Toadofsky well, there Qxe7 Qxf3 and Black is up a pawn
  131. Alex_slow qc2 saves the day even there
  132. Toadofsky ha
  133. MoistvonLipwig oh, that might be true
  134. somethingpretentious ok this looks good
  135. Toadofsky Even better, Qc2 wins a queen there
  136. MoistvonLipwig well, its Q for R but thats enough of course
  137. Alex_slow that what I meant
  138. Toadofsky Q for R with another pawn on the 7th... I'll take White
  139. Alex_slow d6 should work
  140. somethingpretentious was seeing ghosts with Rxf2 instead of Rxf3
  141. Toadofsky Here we go
  142. Toadofsky Or not
  143. Alex_slow wat???
  144. MoistvonLipwig i mean, that should also win
  145. MoistvonLipwig but the other thing was more clear
  146. Toadofsky f7 is still loose
  147. MoistvonLipwig its not like black has a move here
  148. MoistvonLipwig ok, this is actually not so easy now
  149. Toadofsky R3f6 right?
  150. MoistvonLipwig maybe Rxe7 Qxe7 Re3
  151. MoistvonLipwig and then Qf5
  152. Toadofsky I think 62. R3f6 followed by Qf5 and Rxh6+ is more direct
  153. somethingpretentious can't not play that
  154. SycoraxCirce Black is winning easily here
  155. somethingpretentious should probably just trade
  156. SycoraxCirce and by Black, I mean White
  157. MoistvonLipwig how is Rxh6 check?
  158. MoistvonLipwig oh, Qf5 Rxg7 though
  159. somethingpretentious that's it pretty sure
  160. MoistvonLipwig also just Rf8 :D
  161. MoistvonLipwig hm, 58...Rxf6
  162. somethingpretentious just Rx no?
  163. MoistvonLipwig then Qxe5
  164. somethingpretentious seemed more equal than comp says..
  165. somethingpretentious yeah I thought Kg2
  166. phantom567459 gg
  167. MoistvonLipwig well, then you're not up anything
  168. somethingpretentious wait
  169. somethingpretentious I was looking at the next move
  170. somethingpretentious comp says d6 also works there
  171. somethingpretentious which is not surprising
  172. somethingpretentious since Bxe5 was the complicated bit
  173. MoistvonLipwig well, 58...Rxf6 59.d6 Rxd6 isnt completely clear
  174. RyanMcMackin i was done for just trying to play too draw. couldve spent more time analyzing it but I can't play a 4 or 5 hour long game. (have a baby)
  175. somethingpretentious up an exchange?
  176. somethingpretentious mm well played ryan
  177. somethingpretentious you did play quite fast
  178. MoistvonLipwig black has a pawn though and white doesnt have any easy win
  179. somethingpretentious open king?
  180. somethingpretentious just trade on the 7th and rook vs bish
  181. RyanMcMackin i got way down early on. yea i had to play fast because of daughter. my wife will lose it if im here for 5 hours lol
  182. MoistvonLipwig the black king also is a bit open
  183. somethingpretentious also I lost all the comments on the opening which was the bit I was most confused in
  184. somethingpretentious haha good luck ryan :S
  185. RyanMcMackin im heading out. gg though. gl rest of league.
  186. somethingpretentious gg you too
  187. Toadofsky 11. f4 is strong and Black seems to be in trouble
  188. somethingpretentious yeah I didn't like this in the end for black
  189. somethingpretentious no Knight on e5 and no f5 really
  190. MoistvonLipwig in chat we thought 48.Nxh6 or similar ideas around that time
  191. somethingpretentious was I right to be confused? seemed half KID half benoni
  192. somethingpretentious lichess says benoni
  193. Toadofsky I'd look at the Opening Explorer... what Black played must be uncommon
  194. somethingpretentious mm I'm gonna gave dinner now but will analyse later
  195. somethingpretentious have
  196. MoistvonLipwig interesting, it depends on the move order
  197. MoistvonLipwig if you start with KID and then go into the same position lichess says KID
  198. MoistvonLipwig KID : Normal variation
  199. Toadofsky Labeling openings is a very hard problem
  200. MoistvonLipwig yeah
