Proposal:Ban book using for antichess

We can do it like Arimaa. White choose where on the first row to put the eight non-pawn pieces, with bishops have opposite color, followed by black on row eight.

This may reduces white advantage.
#11 I like it.

By the way, everyone, Connect Four and Checkers are both solved, yet people still play both games.
#14 But people with books will get an insane level of advantage when games are solved. So we need precaution.
#15 I agree, but let's not panic about it (or worry about whether the game is solved -- but even 1. e3 is very far from being solved). lichess has rules about assistance, and if there's a serious accusation we can manually investigate it. It sounds as if we're worried about a hypothetical problem.

Yes, it would be nice to automate detection for all possible kinds of problems, however I'm currently volunteering my time working on openings, endgames, atomic, and horde & I'd like to get around to other new features... I'm sure we'll eventually get to automating this, but I'm not hearing any help from anyone and I can't volunteer while I'm working my IRL job...
#16 Please read these:

Any response to 1.e3 other than 1...b6 is white win. Any line after 1.e3 b6 other than the two lines indicted by Watkins is white win. Watkins is working towards the elimination of the remaining two lines one of which has been significantly reduced. From how long he took to solve other responses to 1..b6 we will not enter 2016 before we see the full solution unless something astonishing happens.
One of the two lines have been reduced to step 18 now..which is still being reduced with a huge white advantage already existing. The other is reduced to turn 9.
#16 Wow, I've been watching Francu's site but hadn't seen this site! It appears that great progress is being made after all... I'm compiling that program & will review that this weekend.

I now understand the motive for your suggestion "players shouldn't be allowed to use antichess books". I'll advocate to lichess admins that we ought to plan (and if we have resources, do) something. On the other hand, banning book use may result in false accusations; perhaps some other solution exists (perhaps even something as radical as changing how the game is played -- perhaps a "book win" shouldn't count!).
I'm so glad I'm not a fan of antichess, feels so sad to play a game, which pretty much has been solved :) As for correspondence chess, using opening books is what it is about in normal chess. On the other hand, using endgame tablebases is prohibited, as it's basically solved chess for 6 pieces. And as you're saying there are opening books which show how to win as white in many lines, logically they are supposed not to be allowed either. Antichess 960 sounds really like a great idea though :)
