Yes, it has to be >= 3$, because paypal fees makes smaller donations almost unsignificant.
Then you shouldn't allow donations <3$, why have donors money get wasted in PayPal fees.
I did one for 5$ today as well but no star yet, does it take time?

According to PayPal (cms.paypal.com/cms_content/US/en_US/files/merchant/paypal_nonprofit_faqs.pdf), donation fees are 2.2% + $0.30. So a $2 donation nets lichess ~$1.65. I think that's "significantly more" than $0.
I agree with leonarth; if you're going to set a minimum for giving the trophy, you should list it or limit the donations somehow. But it's not like the trophy costs you anything to give out anyway...

Hi I would like to donate too but I want to be shure of how to do it no matters the star trophy (no problem having it thoug)
Go to lichess.org/donate and follow the instructions. Quite easy. You can't go wrong.
