Yeah, as we said back then as well, your rank is _not_ an indication of your skill, even if the total number of active players in a given category is showed. That's what you have a Glicko-2 rating for. That should be the metric you are using.
My suggestion is to look at it only rarely, because it depends so much on when people choose to be active. Which is random at best.
Even if the rank means nothing, it's still fun to check once in a while to see where you are. I really like that you've added this feature!
glicko rating can tell me the probability of winning vs a rated opponent. It doesn't tell me anything about where I am in the field. Thats why rank/population means something.
let's say that only players with 20 rated games are ranked thus in the population
you can get the number of the population and its mean and the standard deviation => your percental rank
for goodness of fit maybe a test with a lognormal distribution analysis or the skew of the curve can be announced
