Request: Put-down chess (game mode)

Would this be technically doable by expanding the code of the simple board editor to be 2 player and go in turns? Even if all the rules couldn't be strictly implemented (requiring player trust), it would be great if it was possible.
Of course. Nothing is impossible.

But what you just proposed is difficult and would require copious amount of work. Hence it not being doable. There are other features with higher priority.
Hey Hellball, where can I find the official feature priority list for lichess? I assume it's on github somewhere but I can't find it.
#13, there is no such list. It's pretty much "whatever Thibault decides to work on". Right now, he is on vacation so there aren't many big changes being made.

Generally speaking, bugfixes always come first. After those, the easier a feature is to implement, the more likely it is to be made. Finally, there are areas in which lichess is lacking, particularly in user interaction. There is no friend chat system for instance, which is considered a core feature of game sites and social networks across the web. Areas where lichess is lacking are typically addressed first. But all in all, there is no strict ETA, and features still ultimately depend on the level of developer interest.

Unachess and variants in general require a lot of work to implement and they're just variants, not something everyone will experience. Features that improve the experience for everyone take priority.
Oh okay. I thought I saw a list a few months ago, guess I was mistaken.
I have coding experience and am willing to create it.
Excellent! Idle on the IRC channel #lichess at chat.freenode.net.
The page just stays blank when I type chat.freenode.net in my search bar.
It's an IRC chat channel, you need an IRC client to access it. I suggest hexchat.github.io/

IRC is an oldschool internet protocol (in the same sense HTTP is a protocol) still widely used for development and gaming. chat.freenode.net is an IRC server. It will be listed as 'Freenode' in HexChat.
