U<rating-here> tournaments

It's great to have U1600 and U2000 tournaments, thanks lichess for that :)

Now, at the risk of me being annoying, wouldn't it be great to have also U1700, U1800, U1900 ? This way, once my rating goes beyond 1600 I can now play U1700 with a chance of winning
I don't think that would be a good idea. The more rating categories the more those tournaments get thinned out so you would start to play against the same people again and again.
Also generally 400 points seems like a good gap, even at 1650 against the strongest players there (1950 or so I guess) you still have some chance of winning so you can play players that are stronger than you and learn something, without completely getting crushed.

Something I would like to see would be tournaments with minimum entry rating so that strong players don't have to play MUCH weaker players all the time.
I agree with the OP. I hover just below 1600 for 5 min blitz which means I can't really play any tournaments because I get locked out for a week each time I trickle over 1600 but obviously would get smashed in the <2000 tournament. Maybe at least have 200 pt increments for the tournaments?
MoistonLipwig, I absolutely agree with your suggestion. It may seem kind of okay for stronger players to face much weaker opponents in bullet tournaments, but in blitz or classical pools that sometimes looks quite annoying.
Can't say anything about limiting weaker opponents yet, not in my worries list right now, and maybe never will be lol.

Having U1600, U1800, U2000 sounds good enough, I agree with bulletmark, no need for U1700 or U1900.

Well, I just couldn't enter a U1600 classical because "Top monthly Classical rating (1601) is too high"

Yup.. 1601 = 1600 + 1 = 1600 + One.

ONE.

lol
