Just to make a suggestion: The last game on extra time should count towards the final score. Although the game will end when the time is up, the game started WITHIN the competition time, out of a pairing from the competition. It should definitely count toward the final score.

It's like the final shot in a basketball game. The ball left the hands of the player with time on the clock but landed on the basket with the timer on 0.0. The points are still valid.

Other players would have to wait another fifteen to twenty minutes in a classical tournament for the last game to end, before we can display the results. Not really practical. Then obviously, players who get overtaken would complain they had less playing time and you would never see the end of it.

I know the feeling, I've found it unfair at times (that moment when the last twenty seconds are ticking down, your opponent is completely lost and won't resign...) but I can't think of a better compromise.
