How to make money without a real job?

I've been doing work on Amazon's Mechanical Turk but the pay is laughable. I have severe depression which interferes with holding down a job and I have no particular skill in anything that earns money.
If you're really good at chess than maybe you can compete in some big, fancy tournament where the prize is like $500
Well maybe you could try playing with the higher rated players on lichess in standard chess and ask them if they have any advice on how to get better. And also remember to practice playing every spare minute you have then you will see improvement and you could end up being good enough for those tournaments.
P.S. : If you decide you want to practice to get better then try to play with atleast a 30+0 time control since it gives you more time to think about you're moves
There's no real way to make a living without a real job unless you already have quite a bit of cash. And by cash I mean it in the financial sense; don't take out loans to pursue the following activities.

The most potent but also very risky routes after that are investment (for which you need significant starting cash, due to IPO) or gambling. Poker is probably the best at this, but if you're smart, you may be able to find a bridge tournament that has betting. Bridge is a genuinely smart game whereas poker is heavily luck based. Keep in mind that poker has been mathematically proven to have losing odds.

But I don't recommend either of these. You're only going to make things worse if you do that due to the aforementioned losing odds. My suggestion is to stop worrying about your depression and just try for jobs. The average rejection rate before you find a job in the UK (not sure about where you are from) is 23. That's right, only 1 in 23 employers will accept you. Don't set your sights low either and work for the chickenshit money that MTurk gives you, it's downright demoralising and probably illegal (according to The Economist). Your depression shouldn't factor into it. Just try to get through the day. Hold down the job long enough and you will see things get better. But you won't get anywhere if you don't try, and be stuck in the same loop of self-hatred.
The problem is you need to have a skill in order to pave your own way. You need to be able to produce something of value to others. If you're just a depressed dude who isn't reliable enough to even get out of bed every day, you are not going to very far with ANY work you attempt to do. I've been in your boat before looking for the answers to the question you are asking in the exact same way you are now. I worked for ChaCha for a bit, answering stupid questions asked by teenagers for 1 cent a question. If you were really quick you might get $3 an hour off of it if you were lucky during peak hours. There are ways to make money own your own without getting a job: you could be a blogger, a streamer, start a crowd-funded project, buy and resell off Ebay, or even take miscellaneous jobs off Elance (I've been paid twice to create a Wikipedia article for someone). But I'm warning you now, none of these should be your primary plan. The people who actually live off these things are few and far in between, probably not even 0.1% of those who attempt it. You begin getting your life back on track by finding a job, any job. I worked in fast food for a while. As long as you show up on time and aren't a complete idiot then you will keep it and get paid. Once you build a foundation by proving you can hold a nothing job, you can work on planning out your future.
Great advice from hellball and moo here, i really love it when internet communities counsel each other, it could actually be more effective than real life counseling.
Create some monetized content on YT, perhaps ?... -_-

For every view you earn the fraction of a penny.
"I have no particular skill in anything that earns money."

I suggest a security guard job at a condominium building or a shopping mall. No skills required.
