How to prepare for a Tournament

I played a tournament last weekend, did quite poorly, lost all of my 5 games (technically got a stalemate in one game, but really I lost).

That said I was expecting to play people rated under 1500 and was put up against everyone as there was not enough people under 1500 to play. My lowest rated opponent was about 1450 or so, highest about 2100.

No wins yet in my chess career.

Sorry to hear that your tourney went badly.

Did you write down all the games, and analysed with your opponents, or at home ?

And any idea why you lost all your games ?

In otb chess I have the problem that I can get easily distracted by noise and things happening (Certain remarks from others. Or when I'm having a bad day personally, then the chess game can be affected by that as well).
Sometimes I can concentrate very well in otb chess, but not always. Therefore my chess results do fluctuate.

Sorry. I overlooked the previous comment, from a few days ago.

I have send you a group invite.
#11: do you have scoresheets of your games? i would love to see them (if you want to, you can import them a share with us)
unfortunately I do not have my games...
As it was my first time recording I made some mistakes in recording for my first two games and in my third game I was running low on time so there were like 30 moves that I didn't record (at 5 minutes we were allowed to stop recording).

So when I got home I just threw out the pages, in hindsight I should have kept at least the sheet for the last game (although I got my most decisive defeat of the day in my last game I at least recorded it clearly).

But can't go back in time unfortunately.

When I go to another tournament in the future I'll be sure to keep my results.
If it was a Fide ranked tournament, the organizers probably have the originals. You can ask them if they send you a copy.

If you want to improve your chess skills, then you should analyse your own chess games.
And when your chess gets better, then you will eventually see that you will be able to reconstruct your recent chess games more easily in case of game sheet errors.

Did you do coordinate puzzles here ?
Since years I know all the coordinates and colors of the chess squares by heart. That makes visualisation of the chess board in your mind easier, and therefore makes improving your chess easier imho.
May I ask which time control was used in the tournament you played??
I am also planning to attend to my first OTB tournament, this saturday, but the time control is 15+0 and I am thinking whether to record the games or not (as is not mandatory). I am scared that with such a small amount of time (and being my first tournament) recording will unfocused during the game me and I will end up in time troubles...
What do you guys think?
Thanks
Mike
I would definitely not record games in time control with no increment
