Learning endgames - books vs dvds and recommendations

Hi,

What do you feel is the better way of learning endgames? Books or DVDs?

What are some recommendations for either at a clublevel / hobbyist level?

I'm aware of Silman's Endgame course (as with other popular chessbooks, I'm struggling with the at times verbose story telling / cutesy language) and saw the ads on youtube for Karsten Mueller's chessbase endgame course.

Where did you get most mileage out of?

Cheers!

Kasparov recommended "Dvoretzky's Endgalme Manual" for beginners and professionals alike.
You can also study 7 men endgames with the tablebases.
I honesty dont think Dvoretzky's Endgame Manual is good for beginners i tried studying that book its too complicated maybe its just me, for me i think the best way to study endgames is to study full games from move 1 and see how the Master transitioned from middlegame to endgame, that book by silman is good but it starts already in the endgame, question is how can one transition from middlegame to a winning endgame? best way to do that is by studying Capablanca games, get this book it will help you a lot

Basic endgames: "100 Endgames You Must Know" by Jesus de la Villa Garcia and chesstempo.com for their great endgame puzzles.

For "early" endgames (with still many pieces on the board): "Endgame strategy" by Mikhail Shereshevsky and "Mastering endgame strategy" by Johan Hellsten.
How you learn better is dependent upon you. Although I easily learn be watching videos or skimming a book, others may not be able to absorb the material passively.
