BitChess.co - Feedback & Ideas

This is a Feedback thread for BitChess.co.

Let us know your ideas for the upcoming tournaments.

I had to create this thread under this account since the BitChess account is too new to be allowed to create Topics.

Any direct questions please to: http://en.lichess.org/@/BitChess
Yeah, that was great. Obviously different time controls would be a thing, as well as (possibly) variants, but mostly if they still attract top players, which might not be the case.
A poll could be in order (as was done for the previous CW Cup) but people will naturally vote for whichever time control/variant they are better at, whereas your aim might just be to target titled players (who seem to favour bullet, or am I wrong?) and the interest they generate in turn. It depends on your own vision then, but a possible way to go about it if you really plan to run these twice a week would be to have a minor prize "random" tournament, different every week, followed the next day by a more regular, higher prize bullet tournament.

I hope it is not too rude to ask and I'd fully understand if you'd rather not answer, but what is in it for you? I mean, it is free to enter and comes at a cost for you.
Again, kindly ignore this if you prefer too. Thanks for doing it either way, this is really great publicity for the site and very enjoyable to watch.
The reason we start with hyperbullet is to provide some fast pace tournament. Title players, action, hype.

It's just to attract a lot of players to get things running. Once people know what's happening we will focus on the "casual" player.

We going to organize tournaments in all variants which are offered by LiChess altough I have to check about Horde, this mode seems a bit fishy.

I know a lot of player want rating prizes and stuff like that but you know there are tons of problems with that.

We want to provide non exploitable tournaments.

Some upcoming plans:

- Regular events with ChessAt3 + Wesley and ChessWhiz
- Crazyhouse events with JannLee audio commentary
- Hopefully a big tournament hosted by john bartholomew
- Every week a small tournament with another chess variant
- Random prizes ( starting by tomorrow ) to random players, you will like it.

Longterm goals:

Providing an healthy environment for the online chess community. LiChess is the foundation of everything, great software, great time. 100% non profit. It's up to the community now to improve the online chess world.

It's a valid question:

There is nothing in for us / me. I created BitChess with a friend of mine our profession is Bitcoin / Cryptocurrency.

Personally I see the online chess economy stagnating. While LiChess / Chess.com and Chess24 providing good services I think this is not enough.

Everyone is scared of engine use. The last 2 tournaments proved there is nothing to fear about. Stop bitching about engines, the paranoia is way too high guys.

We need more innovation, more freelancing and a more dense community and rather work together then against each other.
Thanks for answering.

I couldn't agree more about cheating in general, and even just mentioning it is a pain. One related issue though, which I thought would have generated several threads by now, is the way games against labelled cheaters seem to be erased entirely in the tables.
This is not something you can do anything about, but I am hoping at least one member of the developing team is reading this (feedback appreciated, at least to make sure it has been aknowledged). Forget about ratings, but some players will find it very unfair to see their score being lowered unexpectedly for having *beaten* a player using computer assistance.

I'd rather not start a thread and won't get any further into this. Simply put, it seems reasonable to restore people's streaks when they have lost against a labelled cheater and, at the same time, to award them the points if they do win.
The tournament was great fun! (and very tough)

The upcoming events sound extremely exciting, thanks very much for organizing/sponsoring them, DasKaninchen!
