GM Dusan Popovic

Hi chess friends! My name is Dusan Popovic from Novi Sad, Serbia. My current FIDE elo is 2504. I have coaching programs for all levels. If you want to be my student, feel free to contact me via email dulekpop@gmail or in my Lichess inbox. Training games are also possible.

I became IM at age 20, GM at age 23. I represented my country on three Chess Olympiads (Torino 2006 where I got my final GM norm, Istanbul 2012 and Batumi 2018 where I played on the first board). Serbian vice champion in 2012, winner of many international tournaments (Amsterdam Science Part 2011, Lugano 2017, Donau Open 2013 etc) . The highest elo I reached was 2583.

Dedicated chess coach for 20 years with huge experience. Some of my students are GM Nikola Sedlak, GM Milos Roganovic, IM Milos Stankovic, IM Nadj Hedjesi Balind, FM Milan Popovic, WGM Ljilja Drljevic and many others. I am certified FIDE trainer.

As a player I like stability. Stable opening repertoire, solid positionally based chess with orientation to initiative.

I can teach you all parts of chess game including openings. Through my career I expertized King's Indian and Najdorf as Black. If you want to learn these openings in depth, you are at the right place. I can help you to build up any kind of opening repertoire depending on your preferences.

Still, my best skills as a coach are improving student's general positional understanding and handing with the initiative. Most of young players have the problem of playing less dynamic positions and I am specialized to help them in this way.

Besides chess, I always give my best to create a good chemistry and friendly relationship with my students which is one of conditions for everyone's happiness :)

Teaching process practically always starts with games analysis. This is the key to learn more about player's strengths and weaknesses and about playing style. According to that I create training program for every student in particular . I give lessons via Skype or by typing. Both methods are successful. All of my students know that I am not so called "clock watcher" and my lessons usually last few minutes longer than one hour.

If we work on openings, I always provide students with analysis files that I created for my playing purposes.
