Have you ever won money playing chess?

When I was young I had a continuous match with a friend of mine and we got to scores like 101-101 and such. I don't even remember who won.
My largest win was $250
Take away the entry fee and my bus fare = 158
yeeee
I used to take a chess set and clock on school trips. If anyone beat me they could have £10, and if I beat them I got £1. Luckily there weren't very many strong players x)
Me and my school had a year-long round-robin tournament, I ended up playing each other contestant (There were 13 that actually knew what they were doing) ten, and won most of my games because they were around 800-1200. The prize was $500.
I won $770 at the Chicago Open in 2011 for placing 3rd in the U1500 section. It basically paid for the cost to play in it. 🤷‍♂️
No money per se, but as I play in a bar, we gamble beer, and I won a lot of those!

R.
Yeah, normally there are a couple of minor tournaments each year where I win some money. This year 150 and 50 Euro so far for winning two tournaments.

Funniest story: Once I received a letter from Liechtenstein a few days after the open, I couldn't remember that I ordered the bulletin. We left the tournament early btw.
So I opened it and the first I read was: "Please confirm receiving the price money!" Well, I thought ok, some Sfr (Schweizer Franken), never mind. It turned out to be 200 Sfr (160 Euro at that time) for the 20th place. Luck in ALL cases!
