London System DVD

I want to buy a DVD about the London System with 2.Bf4. There are two of them available. One by Simon Williams and one by Nigel Davies (the new one, there is an older one which is not meant). Is there someone who can tell me what the differences are and which one I should buy?
Have tried a few DVD's and to be honest, I prefer a book. Can't say anything about above DVDs, but if a book is also an option you might consider this one as well:

Romero Holmes, Alfonso, and Oscar de Prado. The Agile London System: A Solid but Dynamic Opening Choice for White. Alkmaar: New in Chess, 2016. ISBN 978-9056916893. PB 336pp

Yep, agreed....also prefer books and databases as well over DVDs. But it's a matter of taste, of course...

The DVDs are imho very expensive, the repertoire presented is limited to rather few variations.
No practical format: do you remember all variations presented? If you write them down or collect sample games, you end up with...a book or database :-)
Another issue, how strong are you? Chances are you either get bored by lengthy explanations you already know or miss some explanations the author expects you already to know.
Next issue (...probably not with this author...) - the speakers are sometimes terrifying. It causes me literally pain to listen 5 minutes to a russian with terrible accent, seeking for words and dont getting to the point. And my english is really less then perfect, i'm willing to forgive a lot :-)
Next issue, at least for me since i'm old school: books are faster. Want to refresh a detail? Ok - start your pc, open the program/content, find the track, search and listen to find the moment the thing gets explained...or take your book, variation index, go to page xy, done.

Personally, i dont understand what the DVDs are aiming for: get you a short overview? To expensive and time consuming. Take a database and browse quickly through some master games. That will teach you something not only about the opening but also about the coming middle game. Or do they want to prepare you at a really deep, good level? Sorry, no way: too limited, no practical format to refresh or add own additional thoughts.

One possible plus - books and databases require some effort to use. For a "lazy player" it might be a way to grasp some ideas in easy fashion. A bit like fast food, not *really* good but better then starving ;-)

But, as said - it's a matter of taste :-)
Don't know anything about Nigel Davies, but Simon Williams has a lot of very entertaining as well as instructional videos on YouTube. I especially like his Longer Games series where he plays 15+10 vs random people. Here is one where he plays the main line of the London System: www.youtube.com/watch?v=4yP_Pr9vzYc

A world of caution, he treats the London System as an attacking weapon, so if what you seek is solid, boring positions you may be a bit thrown off.
Lieber Gurkenzug,
Uwe
Thanks to all! I see a DVD as an additional helpfull tool.
Like MD44 I like to watch Simon aka The Ginger GM... he's fun to watch and is informative in his games. He knows the standard stuff and likes to play the not-so-standard stuff as well. ;}

Edit: Forgot, I don't have any of his Day-Vay-Days, but if I were to purchase a DVD I would try Simon's.

Hallo Sleepy,

ja, jetzt wo Du es schreibst...meine längliche Auslassung war knapp an der Frage vorbei ;-)

Viele Grüße!
Thomas
