Crazyhouse Tournament Schedule

This thread is to get feedback about the crazyhouse tournament schedule and gauge interest in potential changes.

We've gotten requests to add Crazyhouse Hyperbullet (30s+0), so I'm considering adding it as a 1-2 times / day event. Is that something people would have interest in?

Do you have other suggestions for improving the tourney schedule? If so, speak up!

Nice idea the 30s crazyhouse. I am also pleased with the 2 0 tournaments.

I'd like to see a tournament exclusive to higher rated players. It would be something like the elite super blitz tournaments that regular chess has on this site. Due to the relative lack of zh players (2200 will get you in the top 150 on the leaderboard), maybe make it for 2000+ rated players.

My unpopular preference:

no bullet
no hyperbullet
no ultrabullet
all time controls with increment

ok 1+2 is fine - not sure if counts as bullet

@blunderman1 The hyperbullet tourney (tentatively 18:30 UTC / 2:30pm EST), would replace a bullet hourly, so wouldn't affect those who already don't like 1 0.

I prefer inc time controls, too, but the seem to be less popular overall. One advantage of no inc tourneys is that they can be more exciting when there's always a chance of flagging in a won position.

Perhaps we could schedule an elite 1 0 alongside a 4+2 slot.

Imho--not pulling any punches here--hyperbullet/ultrabullet anything (chess, crazyhouse, any other variant) is rubbish. This modern faster, faster, faster mindset is like a nervous addictive tick. Isn't regular 1|0 bullet fast enough (not to mention you can still berserk all you want if you really want to play 30s)? There are already players who inflate their ratings quite drastically by playing nothing but hyper outside of arenas. To me, 1|0 is the fastest time control where the game can still be played with any modicum of quality. That is to say it's the fastest control where the game is still crazyhouse and not simply a flag fest.

Just my 2c; I know the vast majority will disagree w me on this :)

Also @PawnInTraining I think elite zh tournaments are a great idea, provided the zh player pool is big enough to support this. 2000+ is probably reasonable.

Not to turn this into bullet hate thread. I actually used to play a lot of bullet in other sites some time ago and enjoyed it a lot when i have to clear my head at work or something (it is almost as meditation - i dont even notice when game ends the other begins or think about moves that much except ones or twice during a game). But always with increment like 1+1 or even 10sec+1 (i think in chesscube). Main reason today i dont is bad mouse and being mostly on laptop with touchpad.
But anything blitz or bullet without increment is something i dont understand.

I think most people agree that hyper is rubbish...but its fun now and again. It could be once every day or two? (replacing one of the afternoon bullets maybe?)

as a 1400 ZH player on a past account, I only enjoyed 3+0 or higher.
5+0 being the rarest time control which I enjoyed the most.

I play ZH on chess.com because the predominant time controls in tournaments here are too fast for me.

And i'd dare to say that anything under 3+0 is too fast for most U1600 ZH players.

I vote that if more time controls are added, they should be 5+0 and 10+0 including increment variations.
