Chess.com vs lichess

I started playing on chess.com recently, and found myself losing against very low rated players (I'm talking about 1000-1500 classical). Most of them didn't know more than 2 moves of opening too.
I was wondering if anyone has experienced the same or has an explanation for this. I feel that the somewhat old layout of chess.com is less user friendly, the board isn't so clear too.
If I import these games I played on chess.com into lichess, I see I made mistakes I would normally never play here on lichess. Very strange. So I'm a little puzzled here.
( I do know that lichess ratings are overrated and chess.com ratings slightly underrated (under 1800), but I lose against players that know no openings, that make a lot of beginners mistakes and somehow I make them too)

(The only reason I started playing on chess.com was because I wanted to see how I did in a different player pool)
About 2000 classical on lichess, and 1400 classical on chess.com. I don't play blitz so much.
From my friend's experience, lichess rating is about 200 elo overrated from the real fide elo (his real blitz elo is 1900 and here is 2100 ). But chess.com is less user friendly.
My Fide is about 1850/ on chess.com i played some time and achieved a Rapid chess rating about 2000 over about 60 games.

IM Sparklehorse on lichess has a pretty similar rating in classical chess according to his FIDE. Even underrated here at some point of Glicko2 history.

I dont think lichess ratings are overated in general. The difference between FIDE Rating and lichess classical Rating is that you play usually with much less time control than in FIDE rated games. Also you can win by disconnecting/flagging by premoving/generally win on time because of "no increment" games.

I agree with the fact that sometimes you do more mistakes vs newbies on chess.com than players on your level on lichess. This experience i had got too.

chess.com has so much things around the board in different colors and forms that maybe this could be the reason that focussing on the game makes it harder.

I feel very relaxed when i play on lichess, on chess.com iam much more nervous for any reason. On chess.com there are much more members actually, so much more Engine users too who cant be sorted out so quickly. This could be a second reason why the chess.com rating is often underrated to FIDE or lichess.

I met many very agressive people on chess.com who didn´t care about roughness in Chat, so iam happy to be here.

Glad to see I am not the only one that finds the "live chess" interface on chess.com too distracting. All kind of colored things, notifications, game chats, and then that unneeded animation of the last game part every time before a new game starts. Difficult to concentrate well with that, and I am not even mentioning how sluggish slow the interface is on my old compu.

Therefore I basically only play corr.chess and vote chess on chess.com.

... For blitz and classical chess I much prefer Lichess !! :)

Same thing really. I was around 2000+ here on lichess, went on chess.com for the first time and was losing to 1300 rated players. It made very little sense to me, which is why I returned to this site.

The only explanation I could think of is that it takes quite some time to work your way up to a high rating. The rating is less a measure of your chess skill and more a measure of how long you've been on the site.
2 years ago chess.com pool was very strong, I was 1200 and played pretty solid chess. Then I came to lichess and was about 1800. Now I am around 2000 on lichess, and 2 monthes ago I went back to play just a few games on chess.com out of curiousity. I reached a rating of 1999. I think rating depends a lot on the rating a newbies beginne. On lichess it is 1500, and on chess.com it used to be 1200. However, now on chess.com it changed a bit and you receive a question about your chess skills when you establish your new account. Therefore, if you don't know anything you can respond that you are tournament player and receive a rating up to 1800 immediately. I think that caused a bit of inflation recently, so now chess.com and lichess rating is very close.
i dont know but if i was to build a new chess website i would give newbie a high rating
