ChessWhiz TV: Funday Mondays

Hi,

I'm starting a new series on ChessWhiz TV, where you play all weird, and blame me for it. This week, send your TOUCHDOWNS to me (king to back rank), and you might get featured on next week's episode!

For more information on Funday Monday, see today's introductory episode on Youtube: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ta6n8dHzInU

Good luck!

P.S. Yes, I took the concept from a person named Day[9], who is possession of extreme awesomeness.
Funday Monday continues with Pawn Storms. Castle on the opposite side of the board, and storm that enemy king right off the board. Bwahaha.

If you missed the live broadcast of today's Funday Monday episode, you can catch the recording on YouTube at www.youtube.com/watch?v=OEugvFqrF6E.

Enjoy!
Today's pawn storms were pretty epic. The final game was a bit of a crunch for the black pieces. Check out the recording at www.youtube.com/watch?v=2UpiEdzJYIw.

This week, I want to see the absolute worst pawn structure in the history of chess. Good luck.
Today we witnessed the world's worst pawn structure, and the world's best pawn structure, both in the same game. Wow.

Next up: Queen Rampage. Move your queen in the first 5 moves of the game, and put the pressure on!

We are making a change to Funday Monday. Watching someone who is watching someone playing chess is recursively boring, so ChessWhiz is jumping in on his own challenge. The level of awesomeness has already increased by approximately 15x.

Your next challenge is to move your King to the center of the board in King of the Hill chess. Don't wait around -- do it on move 2. Good luck.

Don't miss the epic queen rampages in the previous episode: http://youtu.be/Rk2aWQvUWuE

Enjoy!
Today's episode saw some pretty bad carnage. It turns out that developing your King in the opening isn't always a good idea. If you missed the action, you can still check it out at http://youtu.be/RPYgT6neU7w.

This week, you get to create your own opening. Start the game off in a way that's totally unique, give it a name, and send it in!
We witnessed some chunks of raw creativity today: The Great Crown Attack, The Stables, and the Monday Defense, to name a few. Catch the recording at http://youtu.be/wdwxAM0ESo0

Your next challenge is to consider each chess piece as its own species, and prevent any from going extinct. If you lose a knight, preserve its counterpart at all costs! The loss of any entire species, including the Queen or King, is an instant defeat. Can you win a game with this restriction?
It turns out that Extinction Chess is pretty difficult. Perhaps it will someday be added to lichess.org as a variant. View the recording of the episode here: http://youtu.be/L209c-VmUxA

For this week's challenge, you get one second per move. Try to finish a game with the "0 1" time control, and send in your best effort!
Interesting candidate for lichess variants. The special king rule may be an issue tho. I'll give it a try.
I don't think the king rule should be an exception. Even in regular chess, if you would normally have a mate in one but your king is in check, you *have* to get your king out of check. Checkmating the other king or otherwise reaching a forced win condition does not exclude your king from this rule. Making an exception for it just makes it a whole lot less challenging.
