Three-Check Rule Clarification

I was wondering: in three-check chess if I make a move that results in a double check (from a revealed check position), does that count as the third check, thus ending the game?
Interesting question.

I just tested it on the analysis board, and it seems like it does not count as 2 checks.

Should it?
We just tried it, and it only counts as one check. http://en.lichess.org/FGWkYD0W

I personally think it should be 2 checks for a double check. Otherwise there isn't any in-game reward for attaining a position you can play a double check from, and having an available double check usually indicates a better position. I think the number of checks should refer to number of pieces the opposing king has been checked by, not the number of moves that are checks.
Just realized my statement there excluded games where one piece checks the king more than once. Ah well. I'm sure you all knew what I meant.
#6 interesting, what if a piece only can give 1 meaningful check. or the requirement that the 3 checks needs to be with different kinds of pieces to count; with any one of these rules i would think it suitable that double-checks would count them all.
#7 it's an interesting variant idea, yeah. For the purposes of this thread I think it's not the best idea, since this was to clarify a rule that's already in place (how checks are counted) and to figure out whether that's an intentional part of the rules of three-check or if it's a lichess bug. Introducing a rule that clearly isn't part of current three check is something different. That said, it's a cool idea. It'd be interesting to see how gameplay changes.
Thanks for all the feedback! As #Subconscious mentioned, s/he and I played this out in a game to check the answer. Then we played another competitive game right afterwards, and I ended up in the identical position, threatening a double check on the second (and third) checks of the game. It even had the same pieces involved. What a coincidence!
