For a few months now I have been playing on Lichess, for a long time as "Anonymous", but more recently as Vichy.

Recently an error has occurred in which I cannot play games properly due to a frequent "Reconnecting" message appearing on my screen, and my moves not being properly registered. By this I mean that I move my piece but then a "Reconnecting" message appears briefly and my piece is moved back to its original square.

Lichess has been by far the best chess website I have ever played on, but unless someone has a solution to my problem I will have to look elsewhere because my games have now become unplayable.

I would be grateful for any advice on this issue if anyone has experienced the same events or knows how to fix them!

Thanks,

Vichy.

What browser are you using?

Open developer tools (right click >> Inspect element), click on the "network" tab, click on the fifth button from the bottom-left (a circle). The button should turn red. Then, go to the page where you are having the problem. When it occurs, try to find the red statuses and report them here.

Firstly thanks for the suggestion. I have followed your steps but I'm wondering what identifies a status as a red status. Would it be one with a red dot beside it, or is there more to it then that?

Are any of the statuses in the "status" column red?

Vichy Aug 15, 2012 9:23 PM #7

No from top to bottom none of them are red.

Hi, I'm experiencing exactly the same problem; the rather strange thing is that it mostly occurs on the first move (or even the first two), after that everything goes smoothly as was before. I'm using Firefox 13.0.1 on Windows 7, no firewalls running
