Is there another site similar to lichess? With no registration required, anonymous games, and a simple interface? Just would like to play chess on a similar site while this one is down. Thanks in
advance.

Before I found lichess, I used to play here:
http://www.instantchess.com/

It's not as good looking but simple and anonymous (or at least: registration-free. you have to choose a name.)

cheers

http://qxboard.geschenker.net/

allows you to play without registration. I recommend using a proper ICS interface though, QXBoard has quirks. For example, when I start a game from the console using "play", the board doens't pick up
that the game is started, which means that you effectively play the game directly through TELNET :P

QXBoard would satisfy your requirements if it worked...

If you see the ASCII board in qxboard, you can "repair" this by typing:

fics% style 12
fics% refresh

Actually qxboard sends the "style 12" line itself immediatly on login. Maybe a short delay is needed before sending this.

*drinks it*
*turns 180 degrees around and spits it out at legend*

ohhh now I get it, that cup of coffee, Java haha

Bah, Yahoo! chess was the primary Java device I was using.

Was forced to use Internet Explorer instead of FireFox at the time T_T

Knows nothing about ICC or online ratings.
